Poem | A Battered Goodbye

I am posting this the morning after the 2019 General Election. For many, now is not a very celebratory time; however, here’s a poem I wrote about exactly that. Celebration.

For me, a lot of the time celebrations aren’t big, loud and shiny. They’re often homegrown, lowkey and simple. Like the time I moved out of my shared house and into my own little rented flat. I celebrated on my own, in the dark living room, with wine and fish and chips.

So when Dear Damsels were looking for pieces around that theme, I wrote about that moment, and how perfect it was at that particular time.
